Danni is my seven-year-old daughter who enjoys reading, drawing, singing, dancing, hair, glitter makeup, and YouTube. She is a true girly girl until it's time to comb her hair. Danni's least favorable activity is sitting down and letting me rake through her beautiful thick 4C mane. Learning the proper way to take care of her hair is a journey. I want to get to a point where she enjoys getting her hair comb, and it doesn't feel like a task but a fun activity. In this product review, we use E'Tae Hair Products in hopes that it will make our hair combing experiences more pleasurable.
So if you are like me and always on Facebook I am sure you have seen an advertisement for E'Tae Products. E'Tae products gives natural hair a straighten boost that resembles the best relaxer ever! The results in the Facebook and YouTube videos are amazing and it got my attention to try the product on my daughter's natural hair and my processed hair.
E'Tae FB page has over a million likes with terrific stories about how the products changed women's hair from afrotastic to bone straight magic. There are at least a gazillion images and videos that are testimonies to the validity of the product. The product is expensive and the process is long winded. So before you invest nearly $80 in this product (my purchase price for the kit which includes shipping) check out my review.
The steps in using this process which makes it very time consuming.
I am a true researcher at heart and it is because of this I can review this product with some helpful tips.
The product itself
The Carmel, Carmelux Shampoo, Carmelux Conditioner and Buttershine are products that I can compare to regular shampoo and conditioner. I've used generic shampoo and conditioner brands that have the same affect as E'Tae products for a lesser price. You really don't get much bang for your buck! I would highly suggest the main standout product, Carmel, as a purchase worth getting. As for the shampoo and conditioner, I am not so convinced of its mystic powers. The shampoo and conditioner actually smells stronger than it works to me.
The power of a good blow dryer
Yes, I do believe that a good blow dryer and a detangling pik is part of the miracle. I used an old Revlon blow dryer. I noticed after watching other reviews that the women who came out with the best faux pas relaxer ever used blow dryers with a detangling pik.
The magic of a flat iron
The flat iron maybe the real McCoy. Cheap flat irons can cause a lot of damage to your hair and there is a reason for the cost being exceptionally low. Think about it, the less expensive the material is to make the product the less likely it will hold up over time. You pay for what you get and I know this lesson first hand. The flat iron I used for my hair came out of a discount beauty supply store for less than $25. The flat iron doesn't have a temperature gauge. So, technically I am not sure if I reached the recommended degrees to properly flat iron my hair.
The beauty of using a professional
Something else I noticed in the video reviews is the beauty of using a professional. The purpose of me buying the product was to save money, leave the experts out, and learn a better way to do my daughter's hair; however, after this experience, I definitely see why stylist are required. Some Youtube videos show reviewers applying the Carmel at home and going to a stylist to finish the shampoo, conditioner and straightening process. I must admit their hair looks amazing! Professionals have the best shampoo seats, hair dryers, products, flat irons, conversations and so on! Also it isn't specifically about if you can do your hair, it's the luxury of having someone else do it. Think about giving yourself a foot rub vs. a professional giving you a foot rub. You see? A huge difference with a higher cost!
The blessings of reviews
And the most important thing ever - the benefits of reviews! Search around and look for other reviews of the product outside of Facebook and Youtube. Go to where it really counts, Amazon. Many of the reviews on Amazon give an accurate description of how the product works and pictures of the result. Many of the reviews are mixed and give you do's and don'ts about the product.
Well, that's it for my review on using E'Tae on processed hair. Please leave your feedback and comments below and tell me what you think about the product.
